Police Lieutenant Posts Trump Wearing A KKK Hood

By Ralph Cipriano
for BigTrial.net

In the image posted on social media by a Philadelphia police lieutenant, President Trump is standing on the debate stage in Cleveland wearing a KKK hood.

In another post, the same officer, Lt. Jonathan Josey, states as "facts:" "It's not wrong to call this president a motherfucker. It's wrong to call this motherfucker a President."

It's yet another example of the glaring double standard that the Philadelphia Police Department employs when it chooses to enforce its social media policy.

As previously reported on Big Trial, if you're a white cop making any comment that's perceived as racist, you're looking at a suspension, and the possibility of losing your job.

If you're black and ripping whitey, you typically get a pass. Especially if you're expressing liberal or Progressive views. Because being a conservative is another problem.

To date, some 72 Philadelphia cops have been disciplined, suspended, and/or fired for posting allegedly offensive and racist comments on social media. While several black police officers were given a pass for posts that showed reverse racism,  hatred of Trump, as well as nude photos of the First Lady.

The Philadelphia Police Department's official social media policy prohibits cops, even when they're off duty, from posting "ethnic slurs, profanity, personal insults," as well as the display of "sexually explicit images."

But as I've previously shown, there's a double standard when it comes to enforcing that policy.

A double standard that's black and white.

The latest offender is Lt. Josey, the commanding officer of the Crime Scene Unit who's black. According to several sources, Josey routinely engages in reverse racism on social media, but never gets into any trouble for it.

As one cop told me, if a white cop ever disrespected President Obama the way Josey and other black officers routinely trash President Trump, he or she would have had to turn in his gun and take a suspension while worrying whether they were going to be fired from their job.

When I contacted the Police Department's Office of Media Relations/Public Affairs, Police Officer Torres responded, "The department is aware of this and Internal Affairs has opened an internal investigation into these allegations."

I wouldn't call them allegations; anyone can see from the materials I've posted what's going on here.

In July, a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, nine suspended, disciplined and/or fired Philly cops "allege that the City of Philadelphia has adopted an arbitrary and double standard by selectively enforcing its polices against the Plaintiffs, singling them out based on their political views."

According to the 43-page complaint filed by Larry Crain, a lawyer from Brentwood, TN, the actions taken against the nine cops "constitutes arbitrary viewpoint discrimination. . . without a rational basis." The department violated the cops' constitutional rights, the lawsuit says, and "falsely maligned and effectively branded [them] as racists."

The actions against the nine cops, Crain contends, also violated the Philadelphia Police Department's Directive 8.6 on Disciplinary Procedure, which says that under Section 1.A, "The entire disciplinary procedure and outcomes shall be consistent and fair."

Of the nine cops who are plaintiffs in the lawsuit, seven are white men, one is a black female described as very conservative, and one is a white female.

When it came time to discipline officers for offensive social media posts, having a liberal point of view wasn't a problem. But having a conservative viewpoint certainly was.

On June 6, 2019, commanders in the Philadelphia Police Department held a meeting about a Buzzfeed article that outed cops across the nation for supposedly racist comments. During that meeting, according to the complaint filed by Crain, First Deputy Commissioner Myron Patterson "stated that Injustice Watch was going after what he termed 'right wing posts.' "

"When another commander asked about left-wing posts, Patterson replied, 'I'm not worried about left-wing posts, just the right wing. and God help you if I see any pro-life posts,' " the complaint states.

Of the overall 15 cops who were fired by the Philadelphia Police Department for offensive social media posts, 14 were white men and one was Hispanic.

In my opinion, a cop doesn't lose his constitutional rights to free speech whether he or she chooses to engage in an offensive, or even a racist rant on social media. After all, this is America. But if you're going to have a social media policy, and you're going to discipline officers for violating that policy, that discipline should be applied even-handedly, don't you think?

And right now, it's obvious that's not what's going on at the Philadelphia Police Department.

  1. Same Lt. that struck a woman in the head at the Puerto Rican Day parade, and was fired from Phila PD. Got his case dismissed by a "questionable" judge, and got his job back.

    1. I thought that might be the same guy. That white privilege is really working out for him.

    2. Attorney Perri who has been retained by Decorated SWAT Officer Nicoletti facing criminal charges for the performance of his duty during the BLM Inspired Riots should call Lt. Josey as a Defense Witness in his forthcoming Trial.

Lt. Josey's Defense of his Actions in the Puerto Rican Day Riots when he assaulted rioters and was cleared, has now provided a clear trail of prejudice and bias that may in fact link him to BLM Riots.

Under a fair Police Administration, Josey should be assigned to the Mounted Patrol. He should be carrying a shovel to clean up horse shit as his postings clearly demonstrate that he should have been aborted but lives on as a testament to failed policies of Affirmative Action.

    3. These people are so far off base, you don't even know what to do with them. This asshole sends that depiction when not too long ago, Biden was giving a eulogy at Robert Byrd's funeral. This officer is obviously a complete idiot and scumbag!

  2. Hey... when you’re not white and you’re a minority you can do whatever the hell you want in the department. Reverse racism is perfectly fine. But god forbid a white cop posts something even slightly offensive about Obama.....the gloves are off and the 18s are coming.....with days off. Punch a woman in the face and you get rewarded when you get your job back and put back in another special unit. The police department is an absolute joke.

  5. So what does that have to do with his opinion on a matter. Was Trump in his corner when he was at court for his actions.

    1. You know what it has to do with, cops were fired because they gave their opinion of the horrible job Obama did as president and called Hillary a bitch, which is the truth!! All pro Trump anti Hillary posts were on that PVP page. Never an anti Trump. So if they got fired for way less than his posts, he should also be fired and fight to get his job back. Trump was not president when he went to court for honestly, rightfully slapping that broad. But guess who was? Yeah his boy Obama. Was he in his corner?

  6. Obviously you haven't done your homework because I am a Philly PD officer and I've seen and heard some of the things white officers have said. Plenty worse than calling someone a MF.

    1. 2 wrongs don’t make a right. White officers get suspended and fired over “racist/offensive” comments but when minority officers say things and post things, no one cares and no one bats an eye. That “zero tolerance policy” is an absolute joke. I’ll make sure I wipe my ass with it next time I come across it

    1. The FOP is busy drinking beers and eating cheesesteaks. They do not give a flying fuck about any active cops. All they care about is keeping their bellies full with alcohol and the lodge. All them union dues pay for nothing but their lifestyle. Total joke

    2. Sounds somewhat similar to what's been reported on IBEW Local 38 and those who run that shop.

    3. Anon...When...it comes to FOP lifestyle, they will be the first YOU call when you screw up...color has NOTHING to do with anything the FOP stands for. They WILL have a benefit with plenty of beer and cheese steaks if YOU are in need though.

  8. Correct if I am wrong but I do not believe that political views are covered by anti-discrimination laws. As Trump and GOP Senate leaders like to say "Elections have consequences."

How do cops espousing liberal views fare in cities and states under GOP control?

    1. You couldn't be more wrong.

Political views by government employees are protected by the First Amendment.

So the issue isn't why Lt. Josey wasn't punished for his political views on social media.

The issue is why was ANYONE on the Philadelphia Police Department punished for publishing their political views on social media?

The PPD picking and choosing what political views are "okay" is clearly illegal, and will inevitably lead to more costly litigation.

  9. If you are going to make policy, make damned sure the policy is straight ward clear that all inappropriate social media posts will be subjected to the same discipline to ALL regardless of the race of the poster. Once that is made clearer to all races on the job, you will see a dramatic decline in inappropriate social media postings.

  10. Calling someone a racist is a pizz-poor, attempt at deflection directed at an accuser who has stated an honest - but apparently unpleasant - truth. It's often combined with the increasingly popular term 'disrespected', the next evolution of the tattered race card.

For clarity, here they are both used in the same sentence: '....those racist cops disrespected me by stopping me when I was out at 3AM, wearing my hoodie and carrying hub caps and a flat screen TV.?

    Get it?

  11. It is not okay for a leader in the Philadelphia Police Department to speak that any way derogatory about a sitting president. I have had enough of the double standard in the Philadelphia Police Department and I a Biracial Jewish Officer strongly disagree with his comments especially when 46% of Black and brown people like me will be voting for Trump and the numbers are climbing at historical rates.

    1. In 2016, Trump got 8% of the black vote and 29% of the Hispanic vote according to the BBC.

It is hard to believe he will get anywhere close to 46% of the black vote this time given his failure to support Black Lives Matters and failure to even denounce white supremacists at the first debate. A Sept. 13-16 Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll had Trump at 5% black support versus 90% for Biden.

They have spread this Virus to now take down Elected Leaders and Society. This Attempted Coup is now a full blown Revolution.

Members of Law Enforcement face the Greatest Challenge in their careers when asked to serve under the Command of Racist Criminal Leaders as the Democrats and Insurrectionists have now assembled to attack and bring down the Trump Administration.

When the Trump Administration retaliates against the Sanctuary Cities Mayors which side will Members of the PPD stand???

  12. No such thing as, 'reverse racism'.
Racism can be delivered by any race but is usually directed towards the majority. In Philly, blacks are the majority.

  15. It's all about double standards in how the social media policy is applied. Cops of all races had that LTs back over the PR Parade incident, but looking at his FB page, it looks like he forgot

  16. Trump is a white supremacist sympathizer at best. One shouldn't need to be conservative or liberal to recognize that. Calling him an MFer for cozying up to racists shouldn't be a disciplinable event. Handled right imo.
