Police Commissioner Outlaw In Self-Quarantine

Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw announced last night that she's in voluntary self-quarantine and working remotely from home because a co-worker came down with the virus.

"I was informed today that someone in my immediate office has tested positive for COVID-19," she wrote in an email to all personnel at police headquarters. "As a result, I am following all protocols, including self-quarantine and remote work, as advised by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health."

In her email, Outlaw reminds her staff at police headquarters about wearing mandatory facemarks, and said that the department will be sanitizing any offices where employees have tested positive for the virus.

"I want to also use this opportunity as a reminder that all employees of the PPD are required to wear masks at all times. It is important to remember that a face mask is not only intended to protect us from receiving the COVID-19 virus, but also prevents us from unknowingly spreading the disease."

"In the continued interest of the health and safety of PPD employees and the communities we serve, all PPD facilities and locations directly impacted by employees with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis will be sanitized and deep cleaned," Outlaw wrote. "Additionally, those who have been in direct contact with a PPD employee who tested positive will be notified."

"While COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Philadelphia, I remain confident in our ability to provide adequate staffing levels to maintain the public safety that our City deserves and expects."

The police commissioner then gave her staff a lecture about the normal protocols:

"Please continue to keep yourself and others safe by:

"Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20-30 seconds, or using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

"Practicing social distancing when possible.

"Wearing a mandatory mask at all times:

" -- This includes when transporting persons in vehicles.

" -- During transport, vehicle ventilation should be on non-recirculated mode to maximize air changes that reduce potentially infectious particles in the vehicle.

" -- If possible, open the windows next to both the driver and the client to improve ventilation."

The client? Apparently that's what cops now call criminals.

There was significant blowback from the police commissioner's memo this morning.

"I cannot believe her nerve," a senior commander said. "When have you ever seen a police commissioner work from home?"

Another cop cracked, "She's been been in quarantine since she's been hired."

Other cops complained that patrol cars are not being cleaned, the city has not been providing cleaning supplies, and that the FOP has had to buy sanitizers in mass quantities.

Meanwhile, other cops suggested that the city's escalating murder rate might be the reason why the police commissioner might want to take cover.

In the past 24 hours in Philadelphia, seven people were shot; five survived, two died.

That pushed the city's homicide rate to 431 for the year; a record-breaking pace. Amazingly, 500 homicides might be in reach before 2020 is over.

  1. Wasn't she in self quarantine before??? Working from home??? Wow, I bet there are some investigators that wish they could work from home too...oh wait some actually do when they get home... I am guessing some old heads are rethinking thoughts about Tucker, Timoney, and Ramsey now..

  2. She is an embarrassment to the men and women in law enforcement and all citizens of Philadelphia. She needs to resign immediately. She’s been in her office and working from home since she got here. She should be arrested for stealing city time. What an absolute joke she is.
